Film Trailer Coursework Deliverables and Deadlines
The following 3 pieces of work should now be uploaded onto your wikispaces (if any work is not uploaded you will lose marks for this part of your coursework):
(Note: Group 13B (Errol, Tobi, Rory, Mary, Heather, Sylvia and Lydia) - because we only have 2 lessons per week (rather than 3) we still need to write up item 3. I will discuss this with you in our lesson on Tuesday 10th November.)
1. First analysis of film trailer
2. Comparative study of 2 posters from the same film
3. Analysis of 3 magazine front covers - at least 1 page Word document
Please also take note of the following final deadlines. Again, if any work is not uploaded you will lose marks for this part of your coursework.
Friday 13th November:
1. Genre research (as either a single PowerPoint or Word document) - recommended to include:
Analysis of 1 film from your chosen genre
Research of marketing campaign for that film, to include:
Trailer analysis
Poster analysis
Other media analysis you can find (e.g. website, magazine adverts)
Shared marketing conventions you have noticed within the overall genre (e.g. that posters tend to share certain lay-out characteristics in your genre)
Broad research into your pitch film genre. Some ideas include:
Repetoire of elements (iconography, ideological themes and narrative structure) - are there any conventions you have noticed?
Technical aspects (mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing, sound, special effects) - are there any conventions you have noticed?
2. Questionnaire analysis to be uploaded onto wikispaces. Recommended to be in PowerPoint format, with both Quantitative (consider bar charts, pie charts etc) and Qualitative (e.g. key trends in audience responses to open questions) analysis.
Friday 20th November
1. Group seminar presentations to be uploaded onto wikispaces (in PowerPoint format) - these should be on a film of your trailer genre that you have not previously analysed. Please see attached guidance notes for full details.
2. Shooting deadline (photographs to be ready). Please note that:
You must use weeks commencing Monday 9th and 16th November to organise mise-en-scene and casting in your groups
You must do the shoot together in your groups but use different shots to each other for your magazine front cover and poster
Week commencing Monday 23rd November
1. Group seminar presentations to be given - to last at least 15 minutes (13D: on Monday 23rd November, 13B: on Tuesday 24th November) with each group member presenting Friday 12th March - Deadline for all filming
Friday 23rd April - Deadline for all editing and coursework evaluation
